How to embed your Broadcast feed into WordPress, and publish your Broadcasts as WordPress posts (or vice versa).

Updated over a week ago

Repurpose your email and WordPress website content effortlessly

Using the ConvertKit WordPress plugin, you can:

To do any of these, install the ConvertKit WordPress plugin if you haven't already. Then, follow the relevant steps below.

Embed your Broadcast feed into WordPress

Embedding a public feed of your Broadcasts into your WordPress website is similar to displaying your newsletter feed on your Creator Profile or your ConvertKit Landing Pages, only that your Broadcast feed will live on your website. The feed will also take on the look of your WordPress theme.

Clicking the Broadcasts' titles will lead to their respective public posts on ConvertKit.

To embed your Broadcast feed into your website, open the WordPress post or page in which you want to embed it.

Next, select the ConvertKit Broadcasts block from the editor:

Your feed will appear. Use the general settings in the right sidebar to customize settings like your Broadcasts' date format and the number of Broadcasts to be displayed at once.

After that, switch to the styles settings tab to customize your Broadcast feed's background and text colors.

Publish your Broadcasts as WordPress posts

Whenever you publish new Broadcasts to the web, you can use the WordPress plugin to recreate them as WordPress post drafts—and even automatically publish them if you'd like!

Here's how to set this up.

1. Make your Broadcasts public

Only public Broadcasts will appear in the feed. You can make a Broadcast public by enabling the Publish to web option when publishing it.

Alternatively, if you've sent your Broadcast without publishing it to the web, enable the Public switch on the Broadcast's reports to make it public.

2. Enable Broadcast imports

Go to Settings > ConvertKit from the WordPress sidebar. Click the Broadcasts tab at the top, and then select the Enable Automatic Import checkbox.

These settings will appear. Configure them as needed:

  • Status: Set your imported Broadcasts' status. If you set it to "Published," your Broadcasts will be published on your WordPress website immediately after being imported.

  • Author: The WordPress user to set as your imported Broadcasts' author.

  • Category: The post category that your imported Broadcasts should be categorized under. Set this to "None" if you don't want to assign your published Broadcasts to a default category.

  • Include Thumbnail: Select this checkbox to use your Broadcast's thumbnail as the WordPress post's featured image.

  • Earliest Date: The date from which you want to start importing your Broadcasts to WordPress, based on your Broadcasts' published date and time.

Above the Save Changes button, you'll see a Disable Styles checkbox. Select it if you want your Broadcast content to take on your WordPress theme's design. Otherwise, leave it unchecked to have your Broadcast content keep its email template's design.

When you're done, click Save Changes.

WordPress will import your public Broadcasts starting from the date you've provided for the Earliest Date setting.

Click Posts in the WordPress sidebar to see your imported Broadcasts. If your Broadcast is missing, ensure you've made it public first. Then, go back to the WordPress plugin settings' Broadcasts tab and click Import now to start a manual import.

If you still don't see your Broadcast, disable the Enable Automatic Import checkbox and save your changes. After that, re-enable the same checkbox, save your changes, and then click Import now and start a manual import again.

You may also need to adjust the Earliest Date setting before re-enabling automatic imports if you had changed your Broadcast's publish date.

NOTE: Running a manual import will not re-import Broadcasts that have already been successfully imported to WordPress.

Publish your WordPress posts as Broadcasts

With the WordPress plugin, you can easily recreate WordPress posts as Broadcasts for sending to your email list. Here's how.

1. Enable WordPress post exports

Go to Settings > ConvertKit from the WordPress sidebar. Click the Broadcasts tab at the top, and then select the Enable Export Actions checkbox.

You'll see a Disable Styles checkbox below the Enable Export Actions checkbox. Select this checkbox if you want your exported WordPress post content to take on your default email template's design. Otherwise, leave it unchecked to have your post content keep your WordPress theme's design.

Click Save Changes when you're done.

2. Export your WordPress post as a Broadcast

Go to your WordPress dashboard's Posts page. Hover your cursor over any post heading to display a "Create as ConvertKit Broadcast" action below it:

Click it, and your WordPress post will be exported as a ConvertKit Broadcast immediately.

Alternatively, if you're using the Classic Editor, you can export your WordPress post by enabling the Create Broadcast checkbox in the Publish box before publishing your post.

You can then review and edit the new Broadcast draft in ConvertKit before publishing it.
