How to enable Paid Recommendations in the Creator Network

Connect your ConvertKit account to the SparkLoop platform to start getting paid for each subscriber you refer to other creators.

Get paid to recommend other creators to your subscribers!

If you are part of the Creator Network, you can set up Paid Recommendations where creators will pay you for every subscriber you send their way. 🤑

There are two stages to setting up Paid Recommendations:

  1. Enabling Paid Recommendations in the Creator Network

  2. Selecting your Paid Recommendations (which we cover in this article)

Let's get into the first stage of enabling Paid Recommendations now.

NOTE: Not part of the Creator Network yet? Learn how you can join it here.

1. Launch the Paid Recommendations settings in the Creator Network

Go to Creator Network under the Grow tab in the navigation.

Click My Recommendations, followed by Settings in the left sidebar.

You'll see a box titled "Paid Recommendations." Click the Connect with SparkLoop button in that box.

An Integrate with SparkLoop window will appear.

2. Connect your SparkLoop account

Since Paid Recommendations are powered by the SparkLoop platform, you'll need to connect a SparkLoop account to your ConvertKit account next.

The connection procedure differs depending on whether you already have a SparkLoop account:

If you don't already have a SparkLoop account

1. Create a new SparkLoop account

In the Integrate with SparkLoop window, click the Go to SparkLoop button to create a new SparkLoop account in a new browser tab.

2. Provide SparkLoop with your ConvertKit API key and API secret

As part of the account creation process, SparkLoop will ask for your ConvertKit API key and API secret.

We've provided these in the Integrate with SparkLoop window. Copy/paste them over to SparkLoop. You can also find them in your account settings.

3. Add your newsletter to your SparkLoop account

Next, add your newsletter—or "publication" in SparkLoop's terms—to your SparkLoop account.

(Optional step: enable the Feature publication in Upscribe option so that creators in SparkLoop's own Partner Network can recommend your newsletter to their subscribers.)

4. Connect your Stripe account to SparkLoop

Doing so helps SparkLoop pay you successful referrals!

At this point, you'll be able to create a Stripe account for free if you don't already have one.

5. Add your SparkLoop API key to ConvertKit

After you've connected your Stripe account, SparkLoop will display your account's API key:

Copy it and go back to the Integrate with SparkLoop window in ConvertKit. Click the Next button in that window.

Paste your SparkLoop API key into the next window, then click Connect.

6. Wait for SparkLoop to approve your account

SparkLoop will need to approve your account before you can use it.

Approvals are usually granted within 24 hours of account creation (excluding weekends). SparkLoop will send you an email when it has approved your account, and you'll be able to start selecting your Paid Recommendations after that!

If you are an existing SparkLoop user

If you already have a SparkLoop account, log into it in a separate browser tab.

Click the Next button in the Integrate with SparkLoop window.

We'll ask for your SparkLoop API key to connect your SparkLoop account to ConvertKit.

Copy and paste your SparkLoop API key from your SparkLoop account's Integrations settings, and click Connect.

You're now all set to start selecting your Paid Recommendations!

Disconnecting your SparkLoop account from ConvertKit

You can disconnect your SparkLoop account from ConvertKit by clicking the Disconnect button under the Paid Recommendations settings.

If needed, you can then reconnect your account again by following the steps above.
