How to embed a video into an email

Need to send a video to your subscribers? Here's how!

Updated over a week ago

Engage your audience with video content directly in your emails.

Staying in touch with your audience is vital to your success as a creator. One of the best ways to sustain their engagement is to share your work as often as possible.

One way of doing this? Video.

Whether you have a new story to tell, a new song to share, or a new podcast episode that just dropped, you can let your fans know about it first by including it in a Broadcast email to your list!

Let's get into the following:

First, from within your account, go to Broadcasts under the Send tab in the navigation. Then click the + New broadcast button to create a new Broadcast on the righthand side.

From here, you'll follow the usual steps of dropping in that subject line, and adding some copy!

Next comes the part where you include your video in your email. 🎉

Embedding a video hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia

If your video is hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia, you can directly paste its link into the part of your email where you want to embed it. Your video will appear there automatically.

Alternatively, click the + button on the left of the part of your email where you want to embed your video.

The content block menu will appear. Select the Video option, then paste your video's YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia link into the settings on the right!

Embedding a video not hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia

If your video isn't hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia, click the + button on the left of the part of your email where you want to embed your video.

The content block menu will appear. Select the Video option and click the Upload tab in the video settings on the right.

Click Upload video to upload your video to your email.

Customizing your video

Click your video to access its customization settings in the right sidebar.

You can choose to right-, center-, or left-align your video, change the button and accent colors, adjust the video size, and more.

But hold up. It gets even better.

Show a preview or play the video in your email

You can choose to show a GIF preview within your email, which is a 10-second animated preview of your video that will support increased engagement.

Not to mention, it looks awesome.

There’s also an option to play the video within the email itself, when supported.

👉 If you're using a client that supports native video (Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook.com, etc.) it will play the video inline. Other email clients should fall back to an animated preview, such as what you see below:

What will you share with your fans?

Now that we’ve shown you the ropes, what will you share with your audience?

It might be your latest song release, podcast episode, or a new course video.

Your audience is waiting for you.

What will you share next?
