If you're starting from scratch when it comes to building your list - or you have an existing list but you’ve never used an email marketing platform before - you’re probably wondering how to get your personal contacts into ConvertKit.
A personal contact list could be family and friends, your followers, a group members on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc., or email addresses you have collected from conferences or events.
According to the CAN-SPAM Act, your Subscribers must understand and be aware of opting into your email list willingly, and have an easy and clear way to be able to opt out at any time. This means you can’t simply import a personal contact list and start emailing them directly from ConvertKit.
You must give them an option to subscribe.
Here are some quick ways to do that:
- Create a Landing Page to allow your contacts to subscribe.
- Send your contacts an email invite from your personal email address and ask them to subscribe to your ConvertKit list
- Once your contacts organically opt in to the Landing Page you can start sending emails to them, using ConvertKit!
