LeadPages Integration

Connect your LeadPages to ConvertKit to collect Subscribers!

Connecting ConvertKit for the first time:

Laying the groundwork

The first thing you'll need to do is get ConvertKit and Leadpages talking. That means adding your ConvertKit API key into Leadpages.

To do that, follow these steps in Leadpages:

  1. In your account navigation menu, click Integrations.

  2. Select ConvertKit from the list.

  3. Click Connect New Account.

  4. Go to your ConvertKit Advanced Settings. Copy the API key you find there to your clipboard.

  5. Back in Leadpages, paste the API key into the corresponding field. Name your integration, then click Connect.

  6. After the API information is verified (which should be instantaneous), the integration will show as "Connected."

NOTE: You must have a form in your ConvertKit account before you can go any further. Make sure to create one if you haven't yet!

Hooking it all up

  1. Create your Leadbox. When you hover your mouse over the Leadbox form, you'll see a menu pop up at the top. In that menu, click "Edit Integrations." The Integrations panel will slide in from the left.

  2. In that panel, you'll see the first tab is labeled "Integrations." It has a section that says "Choose where you want form data to go." By default, that section is populated with an item named "Lead Notifications," which is Leadpages' default location where it sends subscriber data. Beneath that item, click +Add an Integration. A menu will open.

  3. Since you already added ConvertKit in the steps above, it will show in the list. Click the ConvertKit option. (NOTE: If you didn't add ConvertKit earlier, you can actually do so now by clicking the +More Services button and adding your API key as described in Steps 4 and 5 above.)

  4. In the dropdown menu that appears after clicking ConvertKit, choose the ConvertKit form you want to send subscribers to. Wait for the menu to update to show a checkmark so you know it's connected.

  5. At this point you can remove the default "Lead Notifications" connection if you wish.

That's it! Your Leadbox will now send subscribers to the connected ConvertKit form.

OPTIONAL: The second tab of the Integrations menu is "Fields." If you like, you can add a First Name field here to capture that information as well. At this time, the integration only accepts Email and First Name data.

FAQ

Do I need to connect with my API key on my account page?

No, as described in the steps above, you will have an opportunity to add your API key the first time you try to connect a Leadbox to an integration. Either method will work.

Do I have to use the Drag & Drop Builder?

The ConvertKit direct integration is supported on both the Drag & Drop Builder and the Standard Builder, but the steps above only cover the Drag & Drop Builder since it's the latest Leadpages interface.

Where should I put my thank-you page?

You will add your thank-you page in the Leadpages settings, NOT in ConvertKit.

Do I need a Form in ConvertKit if I created a page/box in Leadpages?

Yes. You will want to create a new ConvertKit form for EVERY Leadpage and Leadbox you create. You don't need to design these forms (since your subscribers only see your Leadpage, not your ConvertKit form), but you do have to create a form in ConvertKit to act as the backend for your Leadpage or LeadBox.

You will need to edit any ConvertKit Settings, such as the Incentive email, in this ConvertKit form. Also, if you want to automate anything for the subscribers entering via this form, you'll need to use a ConvertKit Visual Automation to create those connections.

I connected to the Standard Builder the old way.

We would recommend reconnecting via API, using the instructions above.
