How to Fix a LeadBox JSON error

If you have been experiencing weird code responses in your LeadBoxes after subscription, here’s a quick fix. It’s not ideal, and we all need to reach out to LeadPages to get their ideas on this too. I haven’t seen any issues with LeadPages, only with LeadBoxes.

Here is the error screen you'll see.

leadbox-json

One Important Note

The subscribers are still going to your ConvertKit account in the form you specified. It's just an error with how the LeadBox is communicating with ConvertKit after subscription.

The Fix

Go in the LeadBox integration settings and find the form action url. Add . html after /subscribe, as shown in the screenshot.

Now, you'll do something we've always told you  not to do with LeadPages. Set your thank you page in ConvertKit. ::gasps::

That will set the redirect to go the page you want. Basically, we're hijacking the LeadBox thank you page request because it's not reading the ConvertKit response properly.

Now you can go through a normal LeadBox embed on your site, and everything will work.

We are reaching out to LeadPages to see why this error is occurring after months of functioning properly, and will post their response and solution when we receive it.

Thanks!
